Grapes from the top of the slope in the national park. Absolute zero-zero
The vineyard lies in Hnanice, at the top of the slope inside Podyjí National Park, with old vines on granite rock and on poor soils. After hand harvesting and direct pressing of whole bunches, the wine ferments and ages in Moravian and French oak barrels. From the barrel it goes straight into the bottle: unfiltered, unstabilized and with no added sulfur. The nose shows green apple, lemon peel, almond and straw; the palate is lean and taut, with lively acidity, fine tannin from the oak, and a salinity that Aaron Ayscough described as dizzying in its intensity. A clean, pure, uncompromising Welschriesling.
