Ponderosa is Christine's affectionate name for the special vineyard where these grapes grow. The rows of vines are very close together, and Christine wanted the wine's name to call attention to this unique place rather than highlighting individual grape varieties. Grapes are hand-harvested and left as whole bunches. The bunches are foot-stomped and ferment semi-carbonically for about one week. The wine is then pressed into oak barrels to finish fermentation on full lees. No stirring, no batonnage, and bottled unfined, unfiltered, with zero sulfites. Light red color from minimal Pinot Gris skin contact combined with Pinot Noir. Aromas: raspberry cordial, grass, lime, light smoke. Palate: delicate, elegant, whispers rather than shouts. Very vibrant yet ethereal and graceful. This is rosé reimagined - not sweet summer poolside wine, but something with character and depth. Perfect for outdoor dining, grilled meats, charcuterie.
