When Craft Becomes Art The "Handwerk" (Handicraft) series represents wines of pure individuality, shaped in Pannonian style. The word "Handwerk" isn't a vineyard name but a philosophy - wines blending innovation within tradition, drawing inspiration from grandfather's work with old barrels and spontaneous fermentation. The grapes come from 1950s vines growing on schist (metamorphic rock), gneiss, and quartz - poor, challenging soils on slopes facing the lake. The winemaking includes 24 hours maceration on skins (skin contact), 10 months aging in large oak barrels (500-600 liters), no filtration or fining, and low sulfites in a low-intervention approach. The wine arrives at 13.0% alcohol with 3 grams residual sugar per liter (bone dry). In the glass: Pale yellow-gold. On the nose: Fascinating aromas of candied grapefruit, white peach, apricot, meadow herbs, orange peel, delicate flower honey, white tropical fruits, white pepper. On the palate: Stone fruits (peach, apricot), citrus (lemon, blood orange at finish), gentle honey, sea salt, peach puree, and strong mineral character throughout - juicy and fresh. The texture is interesting and powerful, silky and multi-layered, filigree with gentle tannins from maceration, impressive depth, and medium-full body with beautiful weight. Acidity is lively, taut and elegant, with wonderful interplay between fruit and acidity, perfect balance, and vigorous minerality ("mind-boggling flinty intensity"). The finish is strongly mineral and long, saline, with blood orange, highly dynamic and typical of the variety. This is natural, direct wine, utterly fascinating and compelling when it opens, with high aging potential (2023-2033+). Old vines, skin contact, unfiltered | Living wine
